How to Color a Green Glass Potion Bottle

Color-Along with this Green Glass Bottle

Hi there! I love how this green glass potion bottle turned out, so I colored one live on Facebook. And you can color along to make your own (watch below.) This page is from the Planner for a Magical 2018, but you could color any bottle or transparent object with a similar method. I used Prismacolor Premier pencils in only a few colors:

  • Carmine Red
  • Crimson Red
  • Crimson Lake
  • Dark Green

The most useful tip I’ve got for coloring a glass bottle is to make sure to leave light spaces for your highlights. I made sure to block out a lighter section on the upper left of the bottle and the upper left of the garnet. Then I shaded more heavily on the lower right sides. This makes it look like light is reflecting off the top, and gives them both a magical, shiny look. I also looked at several pictures of green glass bottles to observe where the darkest and lightest parts are.

You can watch the replay video below to color along, or you can just check out the pictures and use them for inspiration to color your own glass potion or witchy bottle.

And if you color a potion bottle, I wanna see! Post your pics on Instagram or Facebook, and tag them #coloringbookofshadows

Thanks for checking it out and have fun!
